A traditional garden including oak pergola near Arundel

A room with a view,hampton court 2013 planting

I thought i would post a plant list for our garden together with my ideas behind it and some pictures.
Given there was so much wood in the garden,I wanted the colours to be muted and suit brown. I love Mediterranean style planting and living on the chalky south downs use drought tolerant planting a lot. I didn’t want it too ‘flowery’instead using textures and foliage to provide interest. As I have used a lot of rosemary,santolina and perovskia the garden is very scented too.

Plant list;
Cupressus sempervirens

Myrtus communis
Rosmarianus officonalis
Perovskia ‘Blue Spire’
Perovskia ‘Little Spire’
Artemesia ‘Powis Castle’

Carex buchannini

Eryngium bourgatii
Eryngium ‘Big Blue’
Leucanthemum vulgare ‘Beaute Niveloise’
Asphodoline liburnica
Gaura linderhimeri

One of the best features of the planting I thought was how it looked in low light. The blues,whites and silvers all glowed. Also the bees and insect loved the eryngiums and perovskia.
